In 2014, Wilsons fame exploded to the other side of the Atlantic in a more prominent way when she agreed to star as a character on Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart an unreliable young woman who has a past of dark who gets involved with a married man named Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded an Golden Globe Award for Best Actress of the Television Series in Drama 2015 alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson said to British Vogue she was a fan of playing a character in both perspective. Noah imagines Alison's sexy, confident, irresponsible sexy side. In reality, however Alison regards herself as unattractive. The actress added: I believe America is morally skewed and so judgmental that what is happening on television is shocking. In 2018, Wilson left her show in the midst of the shock of many fans but she was not clear on other details. On a CBS This Morning Interview in August, 2018, Wilson admitted, "I did want to go but I can't talk about the reasons for it." Wilson is currently focusing her efforts on film. Wilson was a part of the 2016 horror film I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the house and played the cryptic PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi rom-com How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add more of the genre of horror to her film credits, she's slated to star in the British adaptation to film to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller that is based upon a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson is the executive producer of the film.
